Leith Street will be closed to cyclists. This is not what the media are reporting. No space for them in diagram unless they are cycling on the pavement?
Leith Street - All advertising boards and outdoor seating should be removed for duration of the works. Daily enforcement also required.
Redundant bus stop on Leith Street should be removed during closure
Calton Road junction should be traffic calmed with pedestrian priority during all works
An official diagonal crossing should be installed at top of Greenside Place to allow pedestrians to cross in one change of lights rather than 2
Primary diversion route includes Waterloo Place and Regent Terrace. Both roads are relatively quiet. There are only 3 crossing points on the entire road. Given vast increase in traffic more crossing points required.
Diversion through Chambers Street - presume zebra crossing removed and replaced with full set of traffic lights, including pedestrian crossings on all legs?
Given length of Chambers Street several crossing points will be required due to increase in volume of traffic
Easter Road Gyratory - extensive remodeling and resurfacing of road and pavement was carried out in 2016. What state will it be left in afterwards? Given experience with trams it will remain trashed.
Also doesn't appear a swept path analysis has been done on buses turning right from Easter Road to London Road (26, 44 etc). Will conflict with pedestrian crossing island requiring buses to overhang the pavement as per Elder Street
Montrose Terrace / London Road junction does not include a stop line for traffic exiting Abbery Lane. Means traffic can drive through pedestrian crossing.
Suggest stopping up Calton Terrace Brae completely to prevent rat running between Abbeyhill and Leith Walk. During tram works difficult to cross here due to volume of traffic.
